This past fall, a jury agreed with the man’s claims and awarded the man $14.2 million in damages.
The hospital was ordered to pay 65 percent of the monetary judgment. The hospital’s attorneys have recently filed an appeal requesting that the original judgment from last November be overturned. Other hearings have occurred since the November ruling. Earlier this year, the courts amended the original judgment, allowing the hospital to pay the compensation amount over a period of 26 years, but they would be required to immediately pay over $2 million in economic and non-economic damages.
