What is a real tumor and what is simply something else?

On Behalf of | Dec 3, 2020 | Medical Malpractice

It might be a scary thing to think about, but understanding what can and cannot be a tumor is important information. People will often make their way to their nearest physician in Massachusetts when they begin to feel a large bump or report having intense headaches. Although caution should always be taken, it is important to know the symptoms and the signs that it may simply be something else.

Symptoms of tumors regarding the brain

One of the most common reasons people get scared and make their way to the hospital is when they are experiencing intense headaches. However, that is not the only symptom to look out for. Intense headaches can be caused by various things such as stress or lack of proper nourishment. It may be an issue if you begin to notice other symptoms, such as a loss of balance, vomiting or memory loss.

Tumors and misdiagnoses

There is a very real possibility that a tumor may be misdiagnosed. When you enter a doctor’s office with the symptoms listed above, they may order you to have a few tests done. This could include a CT scan, MRI and an EGG. All these are useful exams to diagnose a tumor, but they can cause a misdiagnosis if not addressed properly. For example, if a doctor does not look at all the exams equally, then it can give a false positive.

Medical malpractice

Although false positives are not often considered medical malpractice, it can be a serious mistake when the doctor does not use the proper information to diagnose you. Using unproven information, basing things solely on family history, or not properly reading your exam results are all ways that medical malpractice can occur.

If you are the victim of medical malpractice, then time is of the essence. Obtaining an attorney’s services as soon as possible may provide the knowledge needed to help you see justice served and compensation rewarded.
