Medical negligence in Massachusetts should not be ignored

In the medical field, negligence can refer to a broad range of acts by Massachusetts health care providers, encompassing any act or even failure to act that deviates from an accepted standard of care and results in harm to a patient. In another state, an alleged act of medical negligence by a surgeon resulted in serious injury to a woman. Sadly, in this case, the injuries sustained purportedly led to the patient's eventual death some months later.

A woman has filed a complaint on behalf of her deceased mother, alleging medical negligence on the part of a surgeon. According to the complaint, the patient was taking blood thinning medications. Had the surgeon reviewed the patient's medical charts, the suit alleges, he would have seen this fact and taken appropriate steps.

Instead, the surgeon proceeded with the woman's punch biopsy for a mass in her breast. The following day, the patient was discovered unresponsive and had no blood pressure. She was admitted to the hospital for treatment of a large hematoma in her left breast, acute blood loss and shock, where she remained until her death some months later, .

These serious injuries that apparently led to the patient's eventual death are, according to the plaintiff, a direct result of the surgeon's failure to review the woman's medical records. For this, the deceased patient's grieving daughter is requesting a trial by jury and seeking compensation with interest, damages both curative and punitive, court costs, and further relief as the court sees fit. Likewise, Massachusetts residents who have lost a loved one due to medical negligence have the option to consult an attorney with experience in medical malpractice and explore their own options for pursuing justice and holding negligent parties accountable.
