On Behalf of | Apr 25, 2016 | Pregnancy-Related Injuries

If you or your significant other is pregnant, you know that getting proper prenatal care is important. But, in addition to simply finding an obstetrician in Massachusetts, you will want to make sure that the doctor you work with takes the right actions when needed. Pregnancy, labor and delivery are common experiences but that does not take away the fact that they are medical conditions or situations that can be affected by problems.

Some issues may warrant that your baby is delivered via Cesarean section rather than vaginal birthing means. The March of Dimes explains that these may include problems that arise during the actual delivery or be related to health issues known before labor commences. Some labor and delivery problems include signs that a baby is in distress such as poor vital signs. If labor moves too slowly, it may also be necessary to consider a C-section.

Mothers who have infections that can be transmitted to babies if they were to pass through the vaginal birth canal may want to ask their doctors about the option of having C-sections. Existing health conditions like high blood pressure can make labor and delivery potentially dangerous for mothers and may also warrant such a discussion.

When a situation arises that might require an alternative to a vaginal birth is not heeded, serious injury can result to either a mother or a baby. This information is not intended to provide legal advice but general information about the types of situations that may warrant C-section births in Massachusetts.
