Many illnesses are associated with a list of symptoms. Patients in North Adams suffering from a variety of conditions will often tell physicians about physical pains they are feeling. In many cases, a brain injury will exhibit certain telltale signs that should not be ignored. One woman’s experience demonstrates the danger of missing these key symptoms.
The woman now suffers from brain damage and a brain injury. She says that her condition has resulted in a loss of income, permanent disability and mental and physical pain, among other damages. The woman alleges that physicians at a hospital did not recognize how serious her symptoms were when she complained of vomiting, headaches and nausea after receiving treatment for a blood clot.
The patient had been admitted to a hospital and diagnosed with a deep vein blood clot. The treatment required an infusion that the woman claims caused the adverse symptoms. According to the lawsuit she filed, a physician ordered an MRI three days after she was admitted, but it was then cancelled without an explanation. She was given a medication without anyone contacting a physician, and it took medical staff five days to recognize that she may have been experiencing hemorrhaging in her brain. A scan revealed that the woman had several hemorrhages.
The lawsuit states that the defendants, which include the medical facility and attending physicians, did not adhere to the standard of care and failed to recognize, monitor and respond to her symptoms. Anyone who suffers a serious injury as a result of medical negligence should consult with an attorney. Responsible parties may be required to compensate Massachusetts victims for medical expenses as well as other damages, such as loss of enjoyment of life.
